Brooklyn Tower of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge
Looking south on 3rd Avenue from Marine Avenue at the 693 foot tall Brooklyn Tower of the Verrazano Bridge. The bridge was completed in 1964 and spans the entrance to New York Harbor. The distance between the towers is 4,260 feet. An unusual (for NYC) clear blue sky and empty Bay Ridge streets made a great setting for this springtime photo of this magnificent bridge.

The 'hoods. Old Brooklyn nostalgia. I haven't been to Coney Island in a million years! But my mother's side of the family was Brooklyn based and I spent the first few years of my life there. The old Cyclone wooden rollercoaster is now a National Landmark. And back then, who knew how bad for us those delicious grilled Nathan's frankfurters were?
