More to come and I would love more color... | By Mixed Media Girl | Hey, guys. Mixed Media Girl here. In this video, I'm doing a gorgeous pink and gold resin vase and bowl. I've been having a lot of fun with these recently and trying out different color combinations. I'm using Mixed Media Girl Artist Resin and I have my glass vase up on a plastic cup inside, a silicone mold. It's a thirteen-inch round silicone mold and I did nothing to prep the vase other than clean it with some Isobrofa alcohol. Now, the gold, I'm using the polycolor gold mica mixed with some of the polycolor gold dust which makes it really sparkly. The light pink that I'm using is Illumidus light pink. It's very gorgeous color and then the darker reddish pink here I'm using is polycolor rose gold mica mixed with one drop of the Illumiite resin dye, the red and that made this unfortunately a little too dark, a little too red. So, kind of of mid pouring I actually added one drop of the Illuminite white resin dye to lighten it up so you'll see that new pink coming out later and then I'm using the Illuminite white resin dye as well so I start off with some larger layers just to kind of get it covered and get it going and then I put smaller layers in there to work on my design these are all needed for both the bowl and the vase trust me with resin layers are everything and one of the questions I've been getting a lot is how much resin do you use it depends on the size of your mold this mold takes I think about 1314 ounces you don't have to fill it up fully but just at least most of the way once I was done with the vase I lightly torched it to get rid of air bubbles removed it from the mold and then I lightly heat gunned the resin that was in the mold to get rid of the air bubbles and I just let it fill into the middle I let that it for about six hours ish you want to wait until the resin is set it's solid but it's not super sticky so it should be really really flexible and then I have this great thick plastic bowl that I got from Bed Bath and Beyond at Christmas time and it's just the perfect bowl for this so I mold my resin into there and just it how I want and then I put a silicone mat in the middle of it and weigh it down with just a bottle of resin or something else heavy doesn't really matter I let cure overnight until the next day and then I take it out of the plastic bowl. It should come out rather easily and at this point, keep in mind it'll still be just slightly flexible. So, you might want to actually leave it in the bowl for a couple of days til it fully hardens but here's how it looks. It's just gorgeous and you can pick whichever side you want to be on the inside of the bowl. I usually pick the prettier side to go on the inside. So, there's that and then here is the vase. The vase came out a more blended than I would have wanted. I think it's because I preheated my resin by setting the bottles in front of a space heater which make which makes it a little bit thinner but I still am totally in love with it. I leave the drips on the top. I like it as part of the design but if you don't, you can feel free to sand them off. Hope you enjoy this. See you all next time.
