So, I thought I’d share my thoughts on each of them. A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder: It’s very YA, and it’s basically a small town murder mystery about a closed case. This can be read as a standalone because the mystery is wrapped up at the end. So although the books are connected to each other (same setting / characters), each book focuses on a different case. This one is really fun to read, it has so many twists & turns and an amazing protagonist. The book also includes visual material (interview transcripts, texts, maps) which will make you feel like you’re a part of the investigation. 4.5 / 5 ⭐️ Goo

I mean who doesn’t enjoy the idea of getting behind the scenes of a reality TV show about paranormal activity in houses?? Pinsker gives readers a lot of background and insight into the life of Mara from the start of the story. This allows readers to truly understand what drives Mara and how her family interactions have driven her to where she is now. That fear of not living up to other people’s expectations is present throughout the story and truly made Mara a very relatable character for me. Now let’s talk about the haunting and the horror. It was pacy and had lots of twists and turns but there were just too many characters and because of that I didn’t feel that invested in any of them. It should be called Everyone Is Lying as I think the entire book was based on each one of them living a lie but as the lies were exposed I just felt a bit fed up with them rather than shocked or surprised. I have read a few books by Jenny Blackhurst and have really liked her way of telling a story but sadly this one didn’t work for me. I’ve read quite a few books about gated communities and there seems to be a lot of books now which have podcasts central to their plot so this didn’t feel that original and unfortunately isn’t that
