Also known as flapjack, dog tongue, desert cabbage, or paddle plant, Kalanchoe thyrsiflora is a succulent tropical or annual plant for Tennessee, but it can be easily over-wintered indoors in a container. A native of the South African desert, flapjack makes a unique and vivid potted plant or summer succulent annual in the landscape. It is in the third largest plant family, Crassulaceae, and otherwonderful succulents like the jade plant, hens ‘n chicks, and sedum are relatives.
