Mammoth Cave National Park was established on July 1941 to preserve the cave system, including Mammoth Cave, the scenic river valleys of the Green and Nolin rivers, and a section of south central Kentucky.

An interesting way to enter the Red River Gorge is through the Nada Tunnel, located along KY 77 on Cumberland Ranger District. The Red River Gorge is a canyon system on the Red River in east-central Kentucky.
