Warm temperatures and a few showers punctuated a fantastic Spring Family Weekend! Parents from across the country and around the world gathered along the banks of the Rappahannock to participate in some of St. Margaret’s most cherished traditions. UVA Athletic Academic Advisor, and St. Margaret's alumna, Kristina Bethea, met with the Softball Minimester group last Friday to discuss the balance of academics and athletics, as well as NCAA Rules and Regulations.  viewbook.sms.org

On Monday, a group of juniors and seniors ventured to the mountains to attend the University of Virginia UVA STEM and Architecture Day event in Charlottesville. The program was for students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Architecture. UVA highlighted their departments, faculty, students and opportunities through panels, class visitation and tours. Current UVA faculty and undergraduate students participated in panel discussions followed by small group tours.

Elizabeth 'Biz' McCarthy, who graduated this June and signed to play softball at Longwood University next year, spent her summer playing travel softball. Her team, Richmond Ruckus 18u Gold, qualified for Gold Nationals in Clearwater, FL. Only 64 teams all over the country qualified, and Biz spent a week with her team in Clearwater playing and sightseeing! Pictured below is her team, as well as the sand sculpture that was at the opening ceremonies.  viewbook.sms.org
