Swiss scientist who invented LSD and had first ever 'bad trip' dies at 102
Albert Hofmann, Swiss scientist who invented Lysergic acid diethylamide, aka LSD, in 1943. The drug was hailed as a wonder drug for use in psychoanalysis. The fact that it was cheap and easy to manufacture left it open to abuse. It was banned around the world after a number of people under its influence leapt to their deaths believing they could fly.
