MELKOR His name means “he who arises in might”. He was the first of the Ainur to be created by Ilúvatar and the one who created discord in the Music of the Ainur. The spiritual brother of Manwë. After the poisoning of the Two Trees and the theft of the Silmarils, he fled from Valinor. No longer counted among the Valar, Fëanor named him “Morgoth Bauglir”, The Great Enemy, by which name he was known in Middle-earth ever after. He was cast out of Arda at the end of the War of Wrath.
