A rare and exceptional ovoid redware jug or bottle with pinched sides, New England, probably Gonic, New Hampshire, C. 1840. This early piece of redware has a wonderful mottled orange & green lead glaze measures 7" tall & just over 4" in diameter at the bottom. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. An outstanding example of early New England redware. Sold 6/24/15 on ebay for $270.

"BRISTOL COUNTY, MASSACHUSETTS GREEN-GLAZED REDWARE MINIATURE JUG, 1790-1830."  Sold:  ($ 1,600)  "Of squat ovoid form, the applied ribbed handle with pointed terminal, covered in dark streaked green glaze with areas of lighter speckling surrounding the base. Height 5 1/2 inches.

Garth's 5/14/16 Lot 195.  Estimate: $ 600 - 800.  Realized: $ 960.   Description: AMERICAN REDWARE JUG.  Gonic, New Hampshire, ca. 1839-1885. Dark green with orange spots. Applied handle. Flaking. 9"h. Condition Report: Glaze flakes on the surface and top edges. 2-3 rim flakes (mostly in the glaze), glaze flakes on the handle with an additional bruise to one side of the handle. Surface wear around the widest part of the jug.

Garth's 9/9/17 Lot 277.  Estimate: $ 350-550. Realized: $4,680.  TWO GALENA POTTERY JUGS.  Illinois, 2nd half-19th century. Applied strap handles & yellow glaze spots or "moons". 8", 12.5"h.   Larger has hairline in handle & glaze loss to top 1/3 of one of the yellow spots. Smaller has edge flakes on handle & glaze loss around the base, approx. 1" up the side.

Jacob Doris Craven (1827-1895) - Jug. Salt Glazed Stoneware. Stamped "J.D. CRAVEN". Randolph and Moore Counties, North Carolina. Circa 1850-1870. 12" x 8".

Their light weight and lovely designs only increase the decadence of an official meal. Comes in a number of lovely colours, and other sizes are available, too
