A fine staghorn cane of a French Revolutionary. The polished staghorn handle is 2 3/4" high and 1 1/2" at its widest. It depicts in very nice detail, the face of a French peasant wearing a carved wood Liberty Cap. He has white sulfide eyes and a grotesque countenance with pimpled skin, crooked nose, and mouth held askew. (The cane appears to convey a sly anti-revolution message.) It is perhaps French or English, ca 1880.
