Orange-Breasted Sunbird. It is endemic to the fynbos habitat (natural shrubland or heathland vegetation) occurring in a small belt of the Western Cape of South Africa. The male defends its territory aggressively, attacking and chasing intruders.

Cape Sugarbird

The Cape Sugarbird (Promerops cafer) is one of the six bird species endemic to the Fynbos biome of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa. This photo was taken at the Slanghoek Mountain Resort, Western Cape, South Africa.

The Saffron-crowned Tanager is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest.


Gouldian finches are found with three different head colours.Red, Orange and Black. In the wild black is the most common head colour and orange is by far the rarest. The species was recently reclassified by the IUCN from Endangered to Near Threatened
