"Bombs Away" by C. Beall, used as artwork for a WWII Air Force Poster. The model is the artist's son Charles Beall, posing as a Flying Fortress pilot in full uniform seen in the middle of a daring air raid mission, behind enemy lines.
An account given by a Marine stationed at Tan Son Nhut AFB during the evacuation says that and another Marine were actually going around destroying and booby trapping some of the equipment there. They were going around the base throwing grenades into the cockpits/flight decks or engine intakes of several of the aircraft. Both he and the other Marine had to stop once they started hearing small arms fire hitting the side of the aircraft.
