The Tarantula nebula is located light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud in the Southern sky. Just above the centre of this image there is a huge cluster of very hot stars called The stars there are among the most massive stars we know.

In one of the brightest parts of Milky Way, the Carina Nebula spans over 300 light years and about 7,500 light-years away in the constellation of Carina. Pictured above is part of the most detailed image of the Carina Nebula ever taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.

NGC is a reflection nebula degree northeast of the Orion Nebula. The three NGC objects are divided by darker regions. It is also called The Running Man Nebula and Sharpless Catalog --This world is really awesome.

This colorful image from NASA's WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) is a view of an area of the sky over 12 times the size of the full Moon on the border of the constellations Sagittarius and Corona Australis. Two types of star clusters are visible in the image.

The wispy nebula running top to bottom of this image is a nearby star-forming region. In visible light, the dust within the nebula obscures and reflects the light of the stars within and behind it, giving rise to several cataloged nebulae.

Stars ~ Stars form in the densest regions of the interstellar medium, or ISM, called molecular clouds. The ISM is the name given to the gas and dust that exists between the stars within a galaxy. It is 99% gas and 1% dust, by mass. Molecular clouds are perfect star-forming regions because the combination of these atoms into molecules is much more likely in very dense regions.

A mere 12.5 million light-years from Earth, irregular dwarf galaxy NGC 4449 lies within the confines of Canes Venatici, the constellation of the Hunting Dogs. About the size of our Milky Way's satellite galaxy the Large Magellanic Cloud, NGC 4449 is undergoing an intense episode of star formation, evidenced by its wealth of young blue star clusters, pinkish star forming regions, and obscuring dust clouds in this deep color portrait.
