* * The First Denver "Mint" * *  ca 1860  The Clark, Gruber & Co. Bank and Mint was located at McGaa & 'G' Streets (now 16th and Market Streets). they minted $10 and $20 gold pieces until 1863 when the Federal Gov't bought them out. The Feds never minted anything here and the building was torn down in 1909.
