The Oldest Living Things On Earth

The oldest living organisms on our planet.

Llareta; [Yareta in Spanish]: Azorella compacta [Family: Apiaceae] is native to South America and grows in the Puna grasslands of the Andes in Peru, Bolivia, northern Chile, and western Argentina at altitudes of 3,200 - 4,500 meres. It is estimated to grow approx. 1.5 centimetres (15 mm) per year, the plants are, in some cases, reputed to be as much as 3000-years-old. It is an ever-green perennial that prefers sandy, well-drained soils; has pink or lavender flowers that are self-fertile.
