HIGH NECK TEA GOWN with LACE BUTTERFLIES, EARLY 20th C. 1-piece princess style cream cotton batiste inset with vertical bands of lace and net, embroidered yoke inset with lace butterflies, boned neck, banded sleeve with fine tucks, skirt having band of butterflies below hip over pieced lace and embroidery, gathered hem bands. Bust 30, waist 22, length 54. Few holes to net and tears around buttons, few faint stains, good.

Edwardian tea gown w/butterfly lace insets. This dress was worn to "Afternoon Tea" what we, in the States, mistakenly call "High Tea". "High Tea" was and still is the middle-class evening meal, (also called "Supper") in the UK.
