1700-1799 Earring and Pendant - Set of paste jewelry consisting of an earring and pendant both set with a round cut paste surrounded by five teardrop cut pastes alternating with clusters of three smaller round pastes set in a gilt metal frame.

A surround of 16 clear white pastes form the border for a multi-petal flower form of  9 more of the bright pastes. Foiled and set closed back in silver, all the pastes are original. The scalloped perimeter is typical for the period as is flatter back. Earlier 18th cen pieces employed a more rounded, somewhat bulbous reverse. Around 1790 the backs became less and less bulbous while still retaining their solid construction. 14k gold ear wires were later added. c1810

Seventeenth century Ottoman emerald earrings, Pair of very rare enameled gold earrings with emeralds and small diamonds. Ottoman ca 1690 see for very similar example exhibited in the Top Kapi museum Istanbul. The enameled disc around the central rose cut diamond is damaged, and not restored.
