Henry Percy, earl of Northumberland, scion of a powerful family. When Wolsey learned of his engagement to a lower-born Ann Boleyn—w/o royal blessing—he forced the couple apart. Later, when Ann caught Henry VIII's eye, it's believed her resentment for Wolsey's meddling hastened the king's impatience towards his old minister and mentor. Meanwhile Percy was forced into a loveless unhappy marriage with a more suitable woman, Mary Talbot.
