The brilliant Michael Gambon as the incomparably brilliant John Harrison, inventor of the first marine chronometers, in the BBC film "Longitude". One of my all time favorite films about one of my absolute favorite people.
Michael Gambon as John Harrison in TV's Longitude. It's the story of Harrison's efforts to develop the marine chronometer & thereby win the Longitude Prize in the 18th century. This is interwoven with the story of Gould, a retired naval officer, who is restoring Harrison's 4 chronometers & popularises his achievements in the early 20thC. In 2001, Longitude was nominated for the BAFTAs in 10 categories, winning in 5, including Best Actor (Michael Gambon) & Best Drama Serial. Simply Brilliant!
