An original circa 1850 lady's silk tulle cap made to be worn beneath a bonnet. A fine drawstring back and a pretty pleated ruffled edge, with silk satin chin ties that may be later replacements. 8" deep and 9" across the face as shown. In very good clean supple as found condition, with only some minor perspiration color at the bottom edge. A rare mid 19th century bonnet accessory.
