He Dog and his relatives participated in the Great Sioux War of 1876-77. He Dog fought with Crazy Horse in the Battle of the Little Bighorn. He Dog stated the white man has no right to say where I shall go, or what I shall do. The game is mine, and the hills, and the valleys are mine. He finally surrendered at the Red Cloud Agency with Crazy Horse in May 1877.
