Mathilde Kchessinska, Imperial Russian Ballerina and mistress to Czar Nicholas II and other members of the Romanov family.

Mathilde Kschessinska,  later in life, 1930. Elle est nommée prima ballerina en 1893, puis prima ballerina assoluta deux ans plus tard.   Elle est une des premières danseuses russes à se former à l'école italienne auprès d'Enrico Cecchetti.   En 1890, elle eut une liaison avec le tsarévitch Nicolas Alexandrovitch (futur Nicolas II), mais aussi avec d'autres grands-ducs de Russie.

Mathilde Kschessinska, later in life She was one of tsar Nicholas II's first loves. Imperial law at the time made it impossible for a future tsar to marry a non-royal.

Mathilda-Marie Feliksovna Kschessinskaya was perhaps the most notorious ballerina in Imperial Russia. Her love affairs with Nicholas II (before his marriage), and two Grand Dukes gave society much to talk about.
