This magnificent image is a portrait of the Earth taken in one single shot. At 121 megapixels, it is the highest resolution image of the planet ever and was taken by the geostationary Russian weather satellite the Electro-L.

Neptune - 4.688 Million Kilometers away from earth

How far is Neptune from Earth? The distance from one planet to another is constantly shifting because both bodies are moving through space. When Neptune and Earth line up on the same side of the sun, at their closest, they are only billion miles

Valles Marineris: The Grand Canyon of Mars | Image Credit: Viking Project, USGS, NASA | Mars will look good in Earth's skies over the next few days -- but not this good. To get a view this amazing, a spacecraft had to actually visit the red planet. Running across the image center, though, is one the largest canyons in theSolar System. Tomorrow, Mars and Earth will pass the closest in 11 years, resulting in the red planet being quite noticeable toward the southeast after sunset.

Valles Marineris in Mars is the largest canyon in the Solar System. This photo is compiled from over 100 images taken by the Viking Orbiters.

Callisto - one of Jupiter's moons and one of my very favorite things in space. It's so beautiful :3

Callisto - Fourth moon of Jupiter after Io - Europa - Ganymede. Formed of rock and ices Third largest moon in our solar system after Titan (Saturn) and Ganymede (Jupiter) respectively. Jupiter's Io being fourth and our Luna fifth.

OMG

Earth, is the third planet from left. Pictures like these always get me. It's crazy because of the stars that exists that are so much bigger than our Sun, that in comparison is like if it was the size of the Earth!

The moon passed between Nasa's Deep Space Climate Observatory and the Earth, allowing the satellite to capture this rare image of the moon's far side in full sunlight. We normally don't see this side of the moon. As the moon is tidally locked to the earth and doesn't rotate, we only ever see the one face from the earth. Awesome shot!

The sun is degrees Fahrenheit and miles away from Earth. It is also times the size of Earth. Earths would fit inside it. If Earth was a golf ball, the sun would be 15 feet in diameter.

NASA has shown us views of the Big Marble, the breathtakingly beautiful planet on which we live because it studies space and the Earth. The first Big Blue Marble photo was released in 1972 and each…

Taurus Key Planet: Venus The second closest planet to the earth, Venus, is the planet of love and desire.

Call me crazy but. If technology gets to the point where Space Shuttle flights are as common as airplane flights, I will be the first to buy a ticket just to see the Earth from space and experience zero gravity.

Venus is one unique planet when it comes to rotational motion. It takes Venus 243 Earth days to completely rotate on its axis, but just 225 days to orbit the sun. Venus also is one of two planets that rotates in reverse, a phenomenon called retrograde motion, which according to most theories is due to an ancient planetary collision.
