Hunting sharks for their fins has become big business across the globe, as shark-fin soup soars in popularity among China’s growing, newly affluent middle class. Up to 73 million sharks are killed annually.

The murder of sharks strictly for their fins. If sharks become extinct, we, the land people, are fucked.

Stop Shark Finning Now! That's right, these sharks have been thrown back in the water, alive, without their fins. Unable to swim, they drown and die. All so someone can have Shark Fin Soup.

This January thousands of shark fins were found being dried on rooftops in Hong Kong. Traders, who previously used to let shark fins dry on the sidewalk, seem to have found a better place for this activity, out of the public eye. Passers by had complained before, yet Hong Kong is the world's biggest shark fin importer.

Approximately shark fins are left out to dry on top of a roof top of an industrial building in Kennedy Town district.

New York is one of the largest markets for shark fins outside Asia. Support the 2013 bill banning the shark fin trade in NY state by clicking the image and contacting your representative today
