THE LION & THE ANTELOPE: A pair of beautifully carved beechwood capitols of an Heraldic Lion and an Antelope each seated and holding scrolled cabuchons, together with a carved beech wood plaque depicting the Coat of Arms of the City of Manchester which was granted to the City in 1842 and was derived from the arms of Henry IV. The City's motto is inscribed on the plaque and reads "Concilio et Labore" which losely translated means "Wisdom and Effort".
