Explore Vermilion Ohio, Light House, and more!

Vermilion, Ohio straddles a river of the same name as it empties into Lake Erie, and it has a past as colorful as the clay for which the river was named. Once known as the “city of sea captains,” Vermilion was a popular drop-off point for illegal liquor from Canada during the days of Prohibition. The city has been home not only to many captains and sailors, but also to an amazing lighthouse story that spans two centuries and two Great Lakes.

Sherringham Point Lighthouse....no wonder we call it beautiful BC! Located in Shirley, BC on the West Coast of Vancouver Island - an exposed section of the Juan de Fuca Strait, pounded by westerlies in the summer and easterlies in winter. To assist the shipwrecked during these storms, the West Coast Trail was built. It is hiked every year by thousands of people from all over the world.
