Rudolf Kalvach was a graphic artist, painter and engraver. A fellow student of Oskar Kokoschka’s, he was active in the artists’ association Neukunstgruppe alongside Egon Schiele. During those years, he worked with the Wiener Werkstätte and designed a series of postcards showing bizarre and fantastical figures. Rudolf Kalvach was one of the most extraordinary representatives of art in Vienna around 1900 at the point of intersection between Art Nouveau and Expressionism.
