This skirt is part of a dress that is included in Janet Arnold's "Patterns of Fashion: Englishwomen's dresses and their construction ca. 1860-1940." She describes it as "an evening dress in black silk net covered with tiny 1/8" silver sequins over an ivory satin underskirt." Museum of London

Ensemble, James McCreery Co., New York, ca. 1907. Wool, silk, cotton. Metropolitan Museum of Art: "This detailed American day ensemble is a finely detailed example of the period. According to the donor, Mrs. Philip J. Roosevelt, it was worn by her sister Gladys Roosevelt." The donor was a cousin to Theodore Roosevelt."

Evening gown, Joseph, New York, Royal purple panné silk with short-sleeved silk lace V-neck bodice asymmetrically draped in gold metallic mesh. High jeweled midriff band with clear center and magenta paste butterfly. Hobble skirt layered over short train.
