Tomb of a freedman, Gaius Atilius Euhodus, seller of pearls on the Via Sacra, Rome. The inscription reads: “Stop, oh, traveller, and behold this heap of earth on your left. There lies the remains of a good and merciful man, a lover of the poor. Gaius Ateilius Evhodus, freed man of Serrano, seller of pearls on the Via Sacra”. The monument dates from the ﬁrst half of the ﬁrst century BCE. Via Appia.
