Tongariro National Park is the oldest national park in New Zealand, located in the central North Island. It has been acknowledged by UNESCO as one of the 28 mixed cultural and natural World Heritage Sites.
The Kaikoura Peninsula shoreline. Not very protected from a Tsunami which one day will hit this area, either because of a subduction quake or a massive undersea landslide caused by a quake. Remember that New Zealand is also referred to as the shaky isles.
