Wolverine Animal | Despite its size the Wolverine is considered a ferocious animal

Wolverines are members of the mustelid family (same family as otters, badgers, stoats etc.) and are known for being fearless. They will hunt prey much larger than themselves, and also steal prey from much larger predators.

Arguably one of the toughest animals on Earth, the wolverine (Gulo gulo) may soon find itself protected under the U.'s Endangered Species Act (ESA) as climate change melts away its preferred habitat.

Like many other mustelids, it has potent anal scent glands used for marking territory and sexual signaling. The pungent odor has given rise to the nicknames "skunk bear" and "nasty cat." Wolverines, like other mustelids, possess a special upper molar in the back of the mouth that is rotated 90 degrees, towards the inside of the mouth. This special characteristic allows wolverines to tear off meat from prey or carrion that has been frozen solid.
