SS-Sturmbannführer Gerhard Bremer with a friend and his German shepherd. (The friend is at the right.) During the Normandy invasion and the fighting against The Royal Winnipeg Rifles at Putot-en-Bessin, Bremer was reported to have taken part in the execution of 12 Canadian prisoners. He was held as a prisoner of war by the French from 1948 to 1954, when he was released he moved to Denia in Spain with his wife Almut and his son Gerd. He died on October 29, 1989 in Alicante, Spain.

Joseph Hoegen was one of the most notorious Gestapo officers in the German city of Cologne. He was known for his unbounded cruelty and constantly changing forms of torture that he would devise. After the war, he was arrested by the Allies and turned over to German authorities. He was put through trial and given nine years. In 1953, he was pardoned and went on to become a merchant in Cologne. He died in 1973 without paying for his crimes.
