December 28, 1921 – April 11, 2001: Nelson Burbrink: played in pro ball 1941 - 1957,with several years lost to WWll service in the Navy. He finally made it to the majors with STL in 1955 at the age of 33.He appeared in 35 games with 123 PA,.245/.325/.291// scouted for the Cardinals, New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. He served as the Mets' scouting director (1968–72) and director of player development (1973–78).
