Architecturally speaking the facade of the New Coimbra Cathedral has two parts: the lower part follows a remarkably Mannerist style that carries four statues of Jesuit saints and the Baroque decoration of the upper part has arms of the nation and two saints. This part was only finished in the 18th century.
The Madre de Deus Convent in Lisbon is national monument. Currently serves as the premises of the National Azulejo Museum because of the azulejo and the gold carving that covers the walls of this building. This is one of the best examples of the Baroque period in Portugal.
The Church of Santa Engrácia in Lisbon has been converted into the National Pantheon. The Pópulo Convent in Braga was built in the 16th century. The structure of the building has several baroque characteristics. The facade is in an advanced stage of ruin because was dismantled and rebuilt in the late 18th century. This new project framed in the neoclassical architecture.
