Saddam Hussein brick mimicking Nebuchadnezzar, 1980 A.D. Bricks with inscription in Arabic: “In the era of Saddam Husse in, protector of Iraq, who rebuilt the royal palace”. These bricks were laid on top of Nebuchadnezzar’s original foundations when Saddam rebuilt the ancient southern palace in 1982 as part of a vast restoration project that completely hanged the face of the modern site of Babylon.
