Gekko (from "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots")
Just like I did with some of my Titans, I wanted to give the Gekko a fitting Background. So I built this small diorama inspired by the opening of MGS 4. Obviously Snake is hiding under the box, but he isn't the only one hiding in this scene. You can check my Twitter to see who is sneaking behind the wall! And if you want to build your own Gekko, you can get the instructions here: gum.co/GEKKO Hope you like it! :)
Lightweight bipedal weapons platforms. These are heavily influenced by the Gekkos from MGS, although I have changed several aspects, particularly the visual sensors (the black cluster on their noses)
A personalised development of my previous Strider. The Fenrir is a sentient walker with bio-organic legs. It houses a 35mm coilgun, 12 countermeasures dispensers, and 6 grenade launchers (the blue cylinders). Fenrir have a prototypical heuristic AI system which links all units as one cohesive force. They move swiftly through urban environments in packs and outflank or surround their targets like wolves. On top of this, it has 12 Jets on its rear which enable amazing manoeuvrability.
Xire - Urban Patrol Mech
Take the light bridge to the edge of town and this is what you will find. This urban mech is perfect for cramped city streets as well as open freeways. It's small frame and narrow profile allow it to move about city obstacles with ease. Weaponary includes mutiple gauge rifles, rocket pod, and powerful sensory disorientation beam. Despite it's name, my last mech the PRISM was kind of monotone, so for this one I went in a more colorful direction. Little proud of myself here becuase this one…
BA-VT [Big Ass Vertical Tank] (Mobile Frame Zero)
Big Badda Boom! Check out some other angles on my Fickr :) Inspired by all the awesome VT's out there. The lower leg is a straight copy of Tyler's Strider Mech : www.flickr.com/photos/coolcustomguy/9161121532/ I started out doing a copy of his mech but couldn't figure out the rest of the leg joints, it evolved into something completely different in the end. Cheers for getting me started on this though dude :)
While doing research for my Uni work I came across a couple of concept pieces from a VFX house, aptly named Big Lazy Robot (BLR). I then went onto find out that BLR had recently made a CGI short featuring these big lumbering humanoid drones. That short film blew me away. So long story short I thought I'd have a stab at making one of these drones. Its not perfectly accurate but I am pleased with it.
2PT-4 "Schizo Storm" Magnamech (Main)
2PT-4 Magnamechs are a special breed of combat mechs harnessing the power of magnetic forces and EMP technology. Due to the increased complexity of juggling both positive and negative currents, two pilots in perfect sync are needed to operate it efficiently. Been workin' on this baby for a few months off and on now! Had the idea for a goofy mech with magnetic hands, and the whole thing took off from there. View the other pictures for more story stuff.
SP59 Tactical Deployment Walker
With four hard points the TDW can be configured for a variety of situations and incidents. There was some concern from the Council about the military nature of this vehicle but High Command pushed it through arguing that many of its weapons systems are non lethal at the same time as being configurable for more intense engagement should the need arise. Tasked with upholding the peace and the ideals of the Federation perhaps the High Command knows something currently hidden from the rest of…
