Edward Anthony Masen was born on June 20, 1901 in Chicago, the only child of Edward and Elizabeth Masen. His father provided Edward with many advantages as a successful lawyer, including music lessons and private school.But he and his father were emotionally distant because of his demanding business. So he became the center of his mother's life. After his father's death,Edward's mother caught Spanish Influenza and begged Dr. Carlisle Cullen to do everything within his power to save her son.
