The electrical code requires us to have at least 2 outlets in the island (why tho???) so we had to get creative here. I definitely didn’t want a pop up outlet in the middle of my counter…that is literally all I would see if I did that. And putting an outlet on the side of the island just seemed like adding an eye sore. I also wanted a 360 degree island with storage on all 4 sides 😝. I was demanding with lots of requirements. 😉 So this is what I came up with —I wanted our cabinet manufacturer to put the outlets inside a pull down drawer and it is PERFECT FOR US. @mousercabinetry knocked it out of the park! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Couple notes: - electrical code where you live obviously weighs in, but this worked for us. - these are not our primary kitchen outlets. I put outlets in the island because I had to. These pull down drawers are perfect for charging phones, watches, other small devices because they fit right in the door. If I need to plug anything else in, I only leave it plugged in while I’m using it and then put it away so I never have cords dangling. - we have been in this kitchen for a year and never once have I walked into the door if it’s open. The door doesn’t extend out much more that the cabinet hardware when it’s open, but this has always been a concern of the IG trolls so I figured I should squash it now 😜 What questions do you have!?
