Muhammad Ali & his mother Odessa Lee Clay (née Grady) (2/12/1917 – 8/20/994) Mother of 3-time World Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali, Rudolph Valentino Clay, now Rahman Ali & grandmother of Laila Ali. She married Cassius Marcellus Clay, Sr. in the '30s & worked as a household domestic to help support her children. Born in Hopkins County, KY, 1 of 6 children of John Lewis Grady & Birdie B. Morehead. Her paternal grandfather was a white Irishman named Abe Grady, who emigrated from Ennis, Ireland.
