draw, paint, and cut
About a year and half ago I went to a art teacher convention. I had a great time learning new projects, meeting other art teachers and of course the free samples. I was in the show room looking at ceramic tools and different underglazes for clay projects. I ended up talking to this other art teacher and we both commented on the fact that paint for ceramics are always so expensive. She mentioned to me that she had some tempera cakes and used it to paint on the fired ceramic pieces. To give…
gRoOvY Bracelets...clay, cord and beads (Teaching for Artistic Behavior)
How cool are these! They were created out of clay and glazed with crystallized over glazes. If you make them be sure to make the holes big enough and free of glaze as they will fill over. TC is the artist and she is the one that added the textures and special messages for her friend's birthday gift. Love the added cord and glass beads. Just a super project for one of your advanced middle schoolers as she works on passion of art in her own direction. Yes, they were a hit as a birthday gift…

Place the clay ball onto a piece of paper on the floor and slowly, gently step on the clay while applying even pressure. Any shoe will do. After pressing into the clay, carefully remove the clay from the bottom of the shoe. One of…

Ceramic Leaf Bowls
Fall ceramic leaf bowls are a favorite! We learn about leaves and why they change color and fall to the ground. We also learn to press, cut and slump clay. Using fall colored glazes, we learn to color wash, layer and create texture to add visual interest to our bowls. They are so beautiful!
