Best Cheap Resin Alternative for Acrylic Pouring
Are you looking for a cheap resin alternative for your acrylic pour paintings because you love the wet look of resin but are hesitant to use it because you are intimidated by it? Some people LOVE resin's clear glass-like finish. I love how it makes the colors pop and become vibrant. But sometimes I am too lazy to make a batch of resin or scared about ruining my pour if something goes wrong with the mixing or drying process.

What do you guys think of this color combo? | By Mixed Media Girl | Hey, guys. Mixed Media Girl here. In this video, I'm doing a gorgeous resin vase and bowl combo two for one project. I'm using Mixed Media Girl Artist Resin and the colors that I'm using are Illumalite white resin dye, Illumalite violet resin dye, polycolor purple mica, and polycolor titanium mica mixed with a little bit of the polycolor diamond dust. Now, please watch until the very end to see both projects completely done but this is how I like to do it. I pour large quantities of each color in first and then I pour smaller quantities to get the design that I want. You could do this all in maybe three or four layers maybe if you'd like but it would not come out the same nor would your bowl come out the same. So, this is the way I have found is best to do it. You are not completely covering up the initial colors. Those are all in there. There's just layers upon layers and it all affects the design of both the vase and the bowl or the tray whichever you are making. Once I was pretty happy with my colors and my design, I lightly torched the vase. This is really important. You do not want to overtorch or overheat gun it because all of your resin will just run off. Resin's going to continue moving for a long time either way. So, just really lightly torch or heat gun it to remove the air bubbles and then let it do its thing. Just let it run. I let this sit here in the mold for probably about I don't know maybe 10 minutes, five to 10 minutes or so until it mostly stops dripping and then I get a pretty good idea of what the design's going to look like now there were a few parts that had a little too much purple on there for my liking so I added a tiny bit more white and a little bit more of the silver in there and then I lightly torched again just to kind of get those colors blended in I let it run for a few more minutes and then lifted it out of the mold with the cup now this is just a vase sitting upside down on a plastic cup in the mold. I didn't do anything to prep the vase other than clean it with some isopropyl alcohol. I let the mold fill in by itself. No tilting or anything. That way I don't ruin the design. I leave it as is. But I do lightly apply a heat gun to the resin in the mold so that I can get rid of the air bubbles and it can help it flow a little bit better. So here's how it looks wet. Now I always say don't be married to this design it is going to change as it dries on both the vase and in the mold that's just how resin works it keeps moving until it sets but I love the pattern here it almost has you know like the swirl it was just awesome and it actually made mostly kept a lot of that so I waited about six hours to the point where my resin was very pliable but not really sticky it was still tiny bit sticky but not bad. Normally, I would have waited a little bit longer but it was about 11 o'clock at night at this point and I wanted to go to bed. So, I peeled it out of the mold and then I took a plastic bowl and I put the resin in the bowl and shaped it how I wanted. Now, you could use various things to do this. You could drape it over a vase and make it into a vase. You can use different shaped bowls but I recommend using either a smooth glass or a smooth plastic which should make it easy to get out. I put a silicone mat in it and then I weighed that down with a bottle of resin so that the middle didn't pop up or anything like that. It just stayed down and then the next morning, I peeled out the bowl. So, this resin cures within about twenty-four hours and here's how it looks. So, the bowl just gorgeous. I'm so in love this. I actually love both sides but the inside especially beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, maintained so much of that design and then the vase also gorgeous. Love the design on this. Love the colors. I leave the drips at the top. I like it as part of the design but if you don't, you can always sand it off. So, hope you guys enjoy this. Thanks for watching. I'll see you all next time.
193K views · 1.1K reactions | Acrylic Pour on a Vase and Mixing Paint for Pouring | vase, paint | In this video I show how I mix acrylic paints with Mixed Media Girl Pouring Medium to create a beautiful acrylic pour vase :) | By Mixed Media Girl | Hey, guys. Mixed Media Girl here. Today, I'm doing an acrylic pour on a vase with my new Mixed Media Girl Pouring Medium which is now available for presale on my website, Mixed Media Girl. com. So, I'm mixing this up with two thirds of the pouring medium to one-third paint and I'm just using various tube paints here. So, the first one I have is Arteza silver with a little bit of Amsterdam oxide black into it just to make it a darker silver. Then, I have the Artist Loft Violets and then R Tessa Pearl Ocean Blue I believe it is and then the Liquitex Basics White. Keeping it pretty simple on the colors here. You can see that it stirs in very easily into the pouring medium. Feel free to adjust the amount of pouring medium dependent upon the paint you're using. If you're using a lower quality paint like a craft paint, you probably would want to do more 50/ 50 on the pouring medium to paint ratio and then if you're using a very lick Paint. You would also want to use probably a little bit more of the boring medium but you know, adjust as needed. So, I filled a cup up layering my colors in here. This is just a little five-ounce cup which isn't quite enough for the canvas size that I'm doing. So, when I'm done filling the cup, I will just start off with basically a white base over the vase and that will help me to make sure I get enough paint and then also just it'll help the colors flow on the vase itself. This is not something I usually do but it is something that will work if you need a more paint so I started off with just the white there and then I kind of did essentially a tree ring over the top of the vase with all of my colors and this is my favorite part just watching it run down the vase so my favorite colors here gorgeous although typically I would put gold in here but I used silver because I got a lot of request for it I let the vase drip for about two minutes and then you can probably see but I had it raised up on a cup which is how I move it on and off the canvas without messing up the vase so I just move to the side and let it dry fully takes usually about a day or so then go ahead and tilt your canvas until you get it covered to maintain the design I typically will tilt towards one corner then back to the middle then towards another corner back to the middle and so on this is also a good technique to do on a spinner go ahead and just tilt till you got it covered and it's it's totally up to you how you want to do that then you are essentially done I love the pattern that vases make on the canvas. I think it is so pretty and it's kind of you're not really going to get this pattern from anything else. It gives it this kind of feathered look. So here's the close up. Really gorgeous. Just really awesome reactions on this. I love it. Hopefully you guys enjoy this. Thank you so much for watching and I will see you all next time. Bye guys.
