10 Ways to Reduce Plastic Pollution
Plastic pollution could be the most widespread anthropogenic activities in the world with perpetual and profound impacts to the environment, wildlife and human. On behalf of this poor seal I would just like to say FU to people who cannot grasp the simple Idea of throwing garbage away, cut beer can plastic tie off bags, and use a garbage can you lazy bastards!
Rise Above Plastics
Most plastic pollution at sea starts out on land as litter on beaches, streets and sidewalks. After plastics enter the marine environment they slowly photodegrade into smaller pieces that marine life can mistake for food, sometimes with fatal results. Ocean gyres concentrate plastic pollution in five main areas of the world’s ocean and various research groups are bringing back alarming data documenting plastics impacts.
"The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also described as the Pacific Trash Vortex, is a gyre of marine litter in the central North Pacific Ocean located roughly between 135°W to 155°W and 35°N and 42°N. The patch extends over an indeterminate area, with estimates ranging very widely depending on the degree of plastic concentration used to define the affected area."
This is the Citarum River, in Indonesia, possibly the most polluted river in the world, due to mankind’s greed and insensibility regarding environment. Once one of the most beautiful waters in Asia, now the Citarumis a graveyard of debris, where locals, who can no longer fish, risk their lives scavenging for bottles and anything else they might sell for a small profit.
