1933 Single Irish Chain Quilt: Front
I love the new line by Chloe's Closet, 1933. I'd never worked with reproduction prints before, and I always thought something old school would work best with the fabrics, so I chose to do a single irish chain :) I used my two favourite prints for the backing and binding... Irish Chain quilts are known to have been made in Lancaster since the early 1800's. While this quilt doesn't look at all old fashioned, the choice of fabrics, the quilting pattern, and the border are all similar to Irish Chain Quilts made in Lancaster in the early 20th Centuries. Note the wonderful prints, and the care taken in the quilting and piecework. Made by a local Amish woman.
