De Molay Day; Masonic Order Observance; March 18; Observed each year by the Masonic Order of De Molay in commemoration of the martyrdom at the stake of Jacques De Molay, the last grand master of the Order of Knights Templar, on Mar. 18 or 19, 1314. Almost all Templars in France had been arrested on Oct. 16, 1307, at the order of King Philip the Fair, with the connivance of Pope Clement V. The Knights Templar had been founded in Jerusalem, ca. 1018.
