art history: Byzantine Art

Collection by Judy

Constantine moved Roman Empire capital to Byzantium/Constantinople. Byzantine style becomes discernible within Early Christian art as early as the beginning of the 5th century, soon after the effective division of the Empire. Justinian was an art patron.
