We recently adopted a dwarf hamster and learned that they love to explore. Apparently they run for over 5 miles every night which gave me and my partner the idea to extend her tunnels by using two separate cages and lots of tunnels. This was my first ever hamster. Her name was Dory. We adopted her from a lovely family who was no longer able to look after her. Before Lola, there was our beautiful Dory. She was 6months old when we adopted her. Unfortunately, I also started unaware of the requirements, thankfully UK hamster groups were such a great source of information and Google that was gradually able to improve my knowledge in hamster care.
